About Pagosa

The Full Story

Pagosa has officially retired at 4 years old from being a mama at the Homestead.  As sad as that makes all of us, it also thrills us she can now slow down and crash on the couch and chase her squirrels.  We have no intention of 'rehoming' her at this time unless the perfect scenario for her came along.  I would love nothing more than her to be the star of someones show verses just a supporting cast member to our program.  Babies are always everywhere and I feel like sometimes she would love to live in a home that is puppy free.  She's never been around cats, and is not a good companion for small dogs.  She is definitely an alpha female, but does tolerate other dogs.  She really is more a human dog than anything else.  She's a little lazy these days, so running or hiking probably isn't in her future.  She is completely housebroken as I do think she would explode before she would go in the house.  She is the coolest dog ever.  She doesn't need a ton of human interaction as she is way too busy chasing squirrels.  The pack follows her everywhere she goes because her life as a dog is so much more fun off the porch and the couch than on it.  She would be voted 'most fun in the class' if she were in school.  She is silky soft, medium build and not your typical Saint Bernard.  She's on the go, eager to please and would rather sneak around the house discovering what's new than sprawl out on the tile floor like the rest of them.  She keeps us laughing, and constantly saying 'don't bark' because she HATES those pesky squirrels.
